The 12th DC Saturdays protests to support Iranian people
Iranian Americans have not stopped protesting on Saturdays across Washington, D.C. as a part of a weekly demonstration in solidarity of the people of Iran following almost three months of unrest.
Protesters marched from Freedom Plaza towards Washington Monument on December 10, 2022.
This Saturday, protesters in Washington, D.C also protested at the execution of Mohsen Shekari, a 23-year-old Iranian who had joined Iran’s nationwide demonstrations against the regime
Anti government protests in Iran and abroad have started after Amini died in morality police custody in Iran after being detained for allegedly not wearing a headscarf (hijab) “properly” in public. Morality police is responsible for enforcing Iran’s strict dress code for women, including the wearing of the headscarf in public.
